GLRF strives to promote rowing events that develop an interest in rowing among the gay and lesbian community as well as encourage an active participation by current gay and lesbian rowers, whatever their club or boathouse membership or affiliation.
Discover the mutliple features we offer:
Find rowing activities that support participation by and acceptance of gay and lesbian rowers.
Peruse the active regatta forum topics on the ALL OARS message board for current postings
Review a summary of the Seat Search listings that helps match rowers with boats. This is a unique service available to GLRF members. Anyone, anywhere in the world may browse the results and contact the rower or the club.
In 2008, gay and lesbian regattas do not exist. Instead, there are just regattas sponsored and/or hosted by the gay and lesbian rowing community. In the past, gay and lesbian rowing events provided a sense of acceptance, community and connection. Today, these events are just regattas, open to any and all to compete. They help to connect gay and straight rowers. If a straight rower is comfortable with having a gay rower in his or her boat, why then shouldn’t a straight rower feel equally comfortable rowing in a gay boat. Wanna row?
